Dr. Lu Cai received his MD in medicine and PhD in Radiation Biology/Oncology in China, and postdoctoral training in the University of Western Ontario in the toxicology of environmental exposure to metals and McGill University in reproductive toxicology of anticancer drugs in Canada. Dr. Cai now is a tenured Professor of Departments of Pediatrics, Radiation Oncology and Pharmacology and Toxicology, where he has well-trained many physician siceintist and toxicologists, taught many radiation oncologist residents, and been working on many projects, including cellular and molecular mechanisms of diabetes-induced cardiovascular diseases, focusing on the role of oxidative stress in the development of diabetic cardiomyopathy, and impacts of enviromental exposure to nonessential metals or low dose radiation on the human health, including cancer and metabolic and cardiovascular diseases.
