BIO

Yunze Mu is a composer, researcher, and educator whose creative work explores the intersections of music, technology, computation, and human expression. His compositions, performances, and interactive installations draw upon a deep interest in listening, sonic perception,and the organizational systems that emerge from complex relationships among sounds. 

 

MU grew up during a period of rapid technological advancement, an experience that has profoundly influencedhis artistic vision and creative practice. His long-standing interests in computer programming, digital media, and interactive technologies inform a compositional approach that combines computational thinking with musical imagination. Through his work, he seeks to reveal underlying structures and patterns within seemingly chaotic sonic environments,creating music that balances rigor, spontaneity, and expres-sive depth.

 

Mu’s research and artistic activities span computer music, electroacoustic composition, interactive systems, and music technology. His music, scholarly work, and installations havebeen presented internationally at prominent conferencesand festivals, including the International Conference on NewInterfaces for Musical Expression (NIME), the InternationalComputer Music Conference (ICMC), the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS), and the NewYork City Electroacoustic Music Festival (NYCEMF), as well as at venues and events throughout China, France, Poland,South Korea, and the United States.
