BIO

Rebecca Long is Assistant Professor of Music Theory at the University of Louisville. She teaches the second-year theory and musicianship sequence, as well as courses in analysis and post-tonal analysis. Dr. Long specializes in early Classical-period music, engaging with historical analytical methods and practices to inform analysis. Dr. Long’s other research interests include post-tonal music, the music of Roberto Gerhard, the history of music theory, and music theory pedagogy.

Prior to coming to U of L, she taught at Mars Hill University and the University of Houston.

Dr. Long holds a Ph.D. in Music Theory from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst as well as degrees in music theory from the University of Southern Mississippi (MMus) and the University of Arkansas (BMus).
