Ahmad R. Washington, Ph.D. is the Department Chair and an Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Development at the University of Louisville. In 2013, he received his PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from The University of Iowa. Dr. Washington has received various awards recognizing his work, including the First Association of Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD) Asa Hilliard Scholarship Award (2009) and the American Educational Research Association Division E – Counseling and Human Development Distinguished Research Award (2023) for a paper he coauthored with two of his colleagues. In 2023, he was inducted into the prestigious Martin Luther King Jr. Collegium of Scholars at Morehouse College. Also, from (2021-2023), he served as an Antiracism Commissioner for the American Counseling Association (ACA). His research explores anti-Blackness in education and the helping professions, multicultural and social justice school counseling, and critical hip hop school counseling (CHHSC).
