Alessandro E. Cocco is an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. His teaching and scholarship focus on business law, financial regulation, commercial transactions, and the legal implications of emerging technologies. Drawing on more than 30 years of experience in global financial markets, he brings extensive practical experience to the classroom.

Before joining Brandeis Law, Cocco served as Vice President and Senior Policy Advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and as Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly two decades at J.P. Morgan as Managing Director and Associate General Counsel and also practiced with Deutsche Bank and Allen & Overy. 

Cocco's research focuses on financial markets, derivatives regulation, artificial intelligence, digital assets, climate-related financial risk, and systemic risk. He has taught graduate law courses at New York Law School and served as a guest lecturer at George Washington University Law School. 

Cocco earned a Master of Laws from New York University School of Law and received his law degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Rome La Sapienza. He is admitted to practice law in New York, England and Wales, and Italy.
