Dr. Ovechkin serves on university committees, journal editorial boards, and scientific review panels for federal agencies and private foundations, including the National Institutes of Health, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, and Paralyzed Veterans of America Research Foundation. He regularly reviews manuscripts for journals in neuroscience, physiology, rehabilitation, and spinal cord injury and contributes to the organization of scientific conferences and symposia. His professional activities also include leadership within the Society for Neuroscience Louisville Chapter and service to the University of Louisville School of Medicine and Department of Neurological Surgery.
