Dr. Alma Ljaljevic-Tucakovic is a Professor at University of Louisville School of Dentistry. She was born and raised in the beautiful Olympic city of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she attended University of Sarajevo. In 1996 she came to USA as a refugee of war and settled here in Louisville.  She worked in Louisville’s south end general dentistry practice as a full-time expanded duty dental assistant for two years and then for four years part-time while attending ULSD. After graduating from ULSD in 2002, now Dr. Ljaljevic, joined the same practice “Pierce & Mitchell, PSC” as an associate.

Dr. Ljaljevic came back to her alma mater and joined as faculty in January of 2009, where she discovered a new love of teaching. She has served in many roles in the school and currently she is an Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs. Dr. Ljaljevic-Tucakovic still actively practices in the University of Louisville Dental Associates.

Her aspiration is to create the lasting positive impact on dental students’ lives and their future carriers.
