Amy M. Higdon, DNP, RN is an Assistant Dean and Associate Professor at the University of Louisville School of Nursing. Dr. Higdon began her nursing career in 2005 as an associate degree prepared registered nurse at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. After working in pre- and post-operative surgical care and serving as a charge nurse in geriatric care, she began her teaching career at Owensboro Community and Technical College teaching LPN and RN students. In 2013, Dr. Higdon became a faculty member at the ULSON teaching BSN students. In 2016, she was appointed as the University of Louisville School of Nursing Owensboro Extension Program Director and was promoted to Assistant Dean in 2021. Dr. Higdon obtained her BSN in 2007, MSN in 2010, and DNP in 2017. In addition to her role as program administrator for both traditional and accelerated BSN programs in Owensboro, she also teaches senior BSN students preparing for practice, and in the MSN in Leadership program in the Education track, sharing her passion for teaching with other aspiring nurse educators.
