BIO

I am an experimental physicist working on prototypes of quantum simulators, a type of quantum processor.

Our medium- and long-term goal is to expand the abilities of such devices, and therefore their application space. To this end, we always work on improving the engineering design and implementation, leveraging Atomic and Optical Physics principles to our advantage, maximizing the benefits from the computer software used in the process, and recasting potential related problems to a structure that the quantum hardware can process.

We make the fundamental elements of a quantum processor, called qubits, out of atomic ions that float in an ultra-high vacuum chamber. To use these qubits for quantum algorithms, which we also call simulations, we manipulate them with lasers.
