Dr. Bahaaldin Alsoufi received his Doctor of Medicine from the Damascus University School of Medicine in Damascus Syria in 1995. He completed a residency in surgery at the University of Massachusetts in 2002, fellowships in cardiac surgery from Oregon Health Sciences University and Toronto General Hospital/University of Toronto in 2004 and 2005, respectively. He also completed a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at the University of Toronto/Hospital for Sick Children in 2006.

Dr. Alsoufi joined the University of Louisville in 2018 and now serves as a Professor with tenure, in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. He is also the Division Chief of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery for the department, as well as the Erle Austin III Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. Dr. Alsoufi is also the Director of the Heart Institute, Chief of Pediatric Cardiac Surgey, and the Director of Heart Transplantation at Norton Children's Hospital.
