My research interests center around implementation science and well-being of individuals, families and organizations. These broad areas include a number of topics in mental health and trauma, child welfare and relationship violence, health/environmental health, and organizational culture/climate. My expertise in implementation science has been applied to the rigorous evaluation of evidence-based mental health and substance use treatment programs, psychoeducational programs for at-risk populations, healthcare innovation projects, and large-scale tracking/evaluation of University Center grants such as the Louisville Clinical and Translational Research Center and Center for Integrated Environmental Health Science. In the area of mental health and trauma, I have completed federally funded studies on several technology based mental health interventions for depression, suicide prevention and response, trauma interventions for youth, and community/organization based trauma interventions.  In the area of child welfare, I have conducted a number of federal and state funded research studies to validate a comprehensive model of training evaluation, organizational development, culture and climate, and comprehensive practice models to transform systems. In the related area of violence prevention and high risk behavior, we have completed several large studies on psychoeducational interventions for at risk adults and youth with positive outcomes for interpersonal violence, high risk sexual behavior, and behavioral health outcomes. Finally, in the area of health, I have conducted funded research on cancer, environmental health, healthcare leadership and innovation for aging populations, and healthcare systems navigation.
