Dr. Harbrecht graduated from the University of Louisville SOM in 1986 and completed his surgical residency in General Surgery at U of L in 1993.  From 1993-2006, he was faculty and Director of Trauma Services at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  In 2006, he returned to the University of Louisville to become Professor of Surgery and Director of Trauma at University of Louisville Hospital.  Dr. Harbrecht serves as Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs in the Department of Surgery and serves on numerous departmental and hospital committees. He is active in local, regional, and national surgical and trauma organizations.  He has served as the President of the Kentucky Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, Chair of the Kentucky Trauma Advisory Committee, Chair of the Kentucky Committee on Trauma, and continues to serve as a Verification Reviewer for the COT Verification Review Committee.
