Catarina De Marchi Assuncao is a neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist based in Louisville, Kentucky, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and muscles. She practices with the UofL Health – Brain & Spine Institute and is recognized for her expertise in neurodiagnostic testing and complex neurologic conditions.

Dr. De Marchi Assuncao’s clinical interests include electromyography (EMG), electroencephalography (EEG), neuromuscular disorders, epilepsy and seizure management, and stroke care. Her work focuses on using advanced neurophysiologic techniques to diagnose and manage disorders of the nervous system, helping guide comprehensive treatment plans for patients with both acute and chronic neurologic diseases.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. De Marchi Assuncao serves with UofL Physicians and holds an academic leadership role as Program Director for the Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship at the University of Louisville. Through this role, she contributes to the training and mentorship of future neurologists and neurophysiologists while participating in academic and scholarly initiatives within the institution.
