Dr. Christopher Shafer, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and a board-certified neurologist and epileptologist. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology (1997) and Doctor of Medicine (2002) from the University of Louisville, where he also completed his internship in Internal Medicine, neurology residency (serving as Chief Resident), and a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology. Dr. Shafer has been on the University of Louisville faculty since 2006 and currently serves as an epileptologist with University of Louisville Physicians and Director of the UofL Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizure Program. His clinical work includes serving as an attending neurologist at University of Louisville Hospital and Jewish Hospital on the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. Board-certified in Neurology and Epilepsy by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Shafer also previously directed the University of Louisville Comprehensive Epilepsy Program and co-authored Psychological Non-Epileptic Seizures: A Workbook (2015).
