I grew up just south of Louisville in Elizabethtown, KY.  I attended Western Kentucky University (WKU) where I was awarded the Ogden Foundation Scholar, which is WKU's highest academic honor presented to a senior who has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and outstanding university and civic engagement.  After graduating college, I spent a year teaching English at Mae Fah Luang University in Chiand Rai, Thailand through a Princeton-in-Asia Fellowship.  I obtained my MD degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine followed by an anesthesiology residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  After completion of residency, I served as an active duty officer in the Air Force for 4 years at Eglin Air Force Base where I deployed as a member of the Critical Care Air Transport Team. After an honarable discharge from the armed forces, I became an assistant professor of anesthesiology here at the University of Louisville.  Currently, my clinical duties involve supervising and sitting cases in OR's at the UofL hospital downtown and the VA hospital.  My administrative duties include acting as the medical student clerkship director for anesthesia.
