Christopher Fulton received a B.A. degree Magna cum laude at Amherst College with a major in Sociology, M.A. in Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University, and Ph.D. in Art History from Columbia University.  He joined the faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Louisville in 1999, before which he had taught for nine years at Southern Methodist University.  He has worked as researcher at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and as curator at the Allentown Art Museum in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Prof. Fulton has published numerous articles in Renaissance art and is author of An Earthly Paradise: The Medici, Their Art, and the Foundations of Modern Art.  More recently he has investigated Mexican art, with articles on modern and contemporary practice, and co-curated an exhibition of works by David Alfaro Siqueiros.  He is currently preparing books on Siqueiros's creative practice and on Milton Rogovin's photographs of working people.
