BIO

I am a Distinguished University Scholar and Professor in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pharmacology & Toxicology at the University of Louisville. I serve as Associate Vice President (AVP) for Translational Research, and AVP for Health Affairs/Research. I direct the University of Louisville Clinical Trials Unit and I direct 2 NIH-funded Centers—P20 H&T COBRE and P50 Alcohol Research Center.  I have multiple administrative roles at UofL and the Louisville VAMC.  Prior to coming to the University of Louisville, I was Chief of GI for 18 years, Vice Chair for Research for more than 5 years and Director of the NIH-funded GCRC for nearly 10 years at the University of Kentucky. I have been continuously federally funded as PI for my research since 1977.
