Cristin's scholarship focuses on simulation-based education and maternal-newborn health. Her focus areas include simulation in nursing education, faculty development in simulation design and simulation technology, as well as community-focused breastfeeding education.

She actively contributes to the University of Louisville School of Nursing through committee work, curriculum development, faculty mentorship, and student recruitment. She serves on the Simulation and Technology Committees, represents the Owensboro Extension at community and university events, and mentors new faculty. 

Her professional service includes active membership in nursing and simulation organizations, and she contributes to regional healthcare initiatives like the Commonwealth West Healthcare Workforce Innovation Center, now called HealthForce Kentucky. In the community, she volunteers with local health education events, church leadership, and youth programs, demonstrating a strong commitment to public service and healthcare advocacy.
