PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
David has directed the Center for Asian Democracy at the University of Louisville since 2021. This period has seen the Center relaunch varied activities, including hosting international investigative journalists, convening scholarly workshops, funding data collection, and integrating students into faculty research. David is past chair of the American Political Science Association's Organized Section on Religion and Politics, where he oversaw the section's research grant program and launched its Working Group on Religion and Democracy through the inaugural APSA Virtual Meeting. He regularly engages relevant policy actors in his research, for instance through an extended partnership with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems and United States Institute of Peace on a project engaging religious actors in strengthening electoral institutions. His work has appeared in media outlets such as the New York Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal, as well as journals of religion and politics like America and Commonweal.
