Dr. Deborah Kozik received her B.S. from the Ohio State University in 1989, and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994. She completed an Osteopathic Internship and residency in General Surgery at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in 2003, a residency in Thoracic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2005, a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery from The Children's Hospital of Colorado in 2008, and 2 research fellowships at MetroHealth Medical Center and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Kozik is currently workin on her M.S. degree in Bioethics from Harvard University.

Dr. Kozik is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Division, at the University of Louisville. She is also the Assistant Program Director for the department's fellowship program. She is a pediatric and congenital cardiac surgeon at Norton Children's Hospital, where she serves as the Surgical Director for ECMO Services.
