Deidre Peters is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and earned a Bachelors in Arts, Business Administration from Concordia Universiy of Wisconsin. Later she moved to Louisville, Kentucky, and earned  both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing through the Master’s Entry into Professional Nursing (MEPN) program at the University of Louisville. She currently serves as an Instructor of Nursing at the University of Louisville School of Nursing, where she teaches in the traditional BSN, Accelerated BSN, and MEPN programs. Her teaching assignments include Child Health Nursing, Foundation Professional Nursing, and Capstone Professional Nursing, with additional responsibilities as Clinical Coordinator for Child Health.

Before transitioning to academia, she worked as a staff and charge nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Norton Children’s Hospital. Her clinical expertise includes advanced training in critial care, and she holds certifications in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support. Her academic interests center on student-centered learning, reflective practice, and experiential clinical education. She is a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and the Kentucky Nurses Association. In recognition of her dedication to students, she was named a University of Louisville Student Champion and nominated for both the DAISY Award and Faculty Favorite in 2024.
