Dr. Peterson is interested in patient and family communication both within the pediatric intensive care unit and the area of pediatrics at large.  Her research interests have involved the education of multidisciplinary healthcare providers using simulation-based education and the communication preferences of families with children admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit.  As such, she has authored several manuscripts regarding the teaching of communication skills as well as delivered multiple presentations at national and international conferences.
