TEACHING & MENTORING

Dr. Peterson's interest in communication began in medical school and led her down the path of medical education.  She has developed several curricula aimed at teaching communication skills to a variety of healthcare professionals including nurses, respiratory therapists, EMTs, medical students, residents, and subspecialty fellows.  She is the senior advisor for the FORCE program (Focus on Relational Crisis Education), a simulation-based educational program she implemented as a fellow in 2008 and served as the director for from 2008-2023.  She also co-developed a curriculum for pediatric critical care fellows for teaching about the complex care of patients and their families at the end if life.
