Dr. Erika Bratcher is an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Louisville, where she has been a faculty member since 2015. An experienced mathematics educator, Dr. Bratcher focuses on teaching and developing courses that prepare future elementary teachers to teach mathematics with conceptual understanding and confidence.

She currently coordinates the Mathematics for Elementary Education sequence (Math 151–152), leading ongoing efforts to redesign these courses in collaboration with the College of Education. Her work emphasizes active learning, inquiry-based instruction, and alignment with best practices in mathematics pedagogy.

In addition to her work with pre-service teachers, Dr. Bratcher has extensive experience teaching and developing online mathematics courses, including College Algebra, Elements of Calculus, and Precalculus. She integrates technology and innovative course design to enhance student engagement and success in online learning environments.

Dr. Bratcher also serves as the department’s Dual Credit Mathematics Coordinator, overseeing partnerships between the University of Louisville and local high schools. In this role, she ensures course quality and consistency across dual credit offerings through teacher mentoring, syllabus review, and classroom collaboration.

Her university service includes participation on the Community Educator Preparation Committee, the Diversity, Education, and Inclusion Committee, and the General Education Committee.

Dr. Bratcher earned her Ph.D. in Applied and Industrial Mathematics from the University of Louisville, where her research focused on lattice theory.
