Dr. Eugene G. Mueller received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois (Urbana) and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Harvard University followed by postdoctoral work at the Caltech and MIT.  He started his independent career at the University of Delaware (1995–2007) and moved to the University of Louisville in 2007.  His research has focused on the enzymology of the chemical modification of RNA and currently on the detection of transient chemical modification of RNA and its physiological importance.  Prof. Mueller served as Chair of the Faculty Senate and UofL Trustee from 2022 to 2025 after service as Vice Chair of the Faculty Senate and Vice Chair of the University of Louisville Athletic Association Board of Directors from 2020–2022.
