Forest W. Arnold, DO, MSc is an Infectious Diseases physician at the University of Louisville Hospital.  He also sees patients at the VA.  Dr. Arnold has been with UofL for over 20 years and now leads the Division of Infectious Diseases.  He rounds with medical students, residents and fellows in the hospital and teaches from the bedside as well in clinic.

He is passionate about infectious diseases and helping the community in a number of ways.  He is the hospital epidemiologist being called upon greatly during COVID-19.  He is also on the committee for occupational health ensuring that our researchers working with infectious diseases at the university are safe.  He is also a civil surgeon assisting with those seeking documentation in the US (e.g., green card, citizenship).  He is involved in research and has published over 100 journal manuscripts.  His primary areas of interest include pneumonia and antimicrobial stewardship.  He is also a member of the Faculty Senate at UofL.

Dr. Arnold received a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Tennessee in 1992.  He graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV.  He did a traditional rotating internship at West Virginia University - Charleston, WV and residency in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.  He came to UofL for his infectious diseases fellowship and has been here ever since.  In 2011, he earned a Masters in Clinical Research from UofL to improve his research endeeavors.  He is also a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
