BIO

Francis P. Zamborini is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Louisville.  He has been at the University of Louisville since 2001, teaching mainly in the areas of Analytical Chemistry and Electrochemistry.  He has been involved in various service activities throughout the years for the profession, department, and university, including proposal reviewer for several federal funding agencies, manuscript reviewer for more than 30 journals, chair of the Electrochemistry Gordon Research Conference, organizer and chair of several other symposia, and Interim Chair of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Louisville, to name a few.  He has an active, federally-funded research group that focuses on the synthesis of metal nanostructures and their electrochemical and optical properties for various applications in sensing, catalysis, energy generation and storage.  Prior to the University of Louisville, Zamborini received his BA in Chemistry from Carthage College in 1993, received his PhD from Texas A&M University in 1998 (Advisor Richard M. Crooks), and received training as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1998-2001 (Advisor Royce W. Murray).
