Dr. Fred Warkentine is a pediatric emergency medicine physician with Norton Children's Emergency Medicine. The passion that drives my interest at Norton Children’s Emergency Medicine is point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS).  My training in Emergency Medicine initiated my love of ultrasound.  Since specializing in pediatric emergency medicine, I have brought those unique skills to the care of pediatric patients by expediently answering critical clinical questions.  At Norton Children’s Hospital we equip faculty and fellows with POCUS tools that improve the care of children in the Kentuckiana region.  With the establishment of a robust ultrasound guided regional anesthesia program at Norton Children’s Hospital we have led the field of pediatric emergency medicine in the acute treatment of pain for severely injured pediatric patients.  The establishment of a POCUS fellowship for pediatric emergency medicine (PEM), fellows has allowed us to train future PEM ultrasound leaders.
