Dr. Hannah Fischer completed her fellowship training in Neonatal–Perinatal Medicine at the University of Louisville and Norton Children’s Hospital, joining the faculty in 2015. She has advanced training in improvement science through the Intermediate Improvement Science Series and Advanced Improvement Methods courses at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Fischer currently serves as Vice Chair of Quality and Innovation for the University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics, Director of Quality Improvement and Unfunded Research at the Norton Children’s Research Institute, and Director of Quality Improvement for the Division of Neonatology. In these roles, she leads efforts to strengthen systems of care and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the institution.

Her scholarly and leadership efforts have centered on designing and implementing data-driven quality improvement initiatives that translate into measurable gains in patient outcomes. She developed the Neonatal Fellows Quality Improvement Curriculum to equip early-career clinicians with the tools to lead sustainable, system-level change.

Beyond the institutional level, Dr. Fischer contributes to statewide perinatal improvement efforts through the Kentucky Perinatal Quality Collaborative, extending her impact on neonatal outcomes across the region. Her work has been recognized by her peers, including the Department of Pediatrics Outstanding Performance Award for Quality Improvement in 2019.
