Dr. Heather Mitchell joined the University of Louisville School of Nursing in 2009. She is and Associate Professor and serves as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs at the University of Louisville School of Nursing. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Assistant Dean of BSN Programs and the Director of BSN Programs. She is currently the Project Director on the HRSA funded LPN-BSN Pathway grant. 

Dr. Mitchell earned her PhD in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development from the University of Louisville in 2016.

She has extensive experience in teaching at the undergraduate level and in program development and evaluation, and curriculum design. Her scholarly interests include nursing workforce development, entry-level licensure preparation, student success, undergraduate nursing education, and teaching innovations.
