BIO
Dr. Hongryun Woo is a counselor educator and researcher with over 20 years of experience in the field of counseling and counselor education. She is currently a Professor in the School Counseling program, where she teaches courses in assessment methods, career counseling, and foundations of school and mental health counseling. Dr. Woo’s scholarship centers on investigating counselors’ and counselor educators’ professional identity development in relation to counseling effectiveness.
Dr. Woo has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and national conference presentations on topics related to counselor training, qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research, and minoritized populations in counseling. She is an active member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and its divisions and has served in leadership roles within ACES and Chi Sigma Iota, International. She is Editor in Chief for the Journal of Asian Pacific Counseling (JAPC).
A passionate advocate for scholar-practitioner identity development, Dr. Woo is committed to helping counselors at all stages of their careers engage in ethical, meaningful, and equity-focused research. She also champions accessible, practice-integrated research training that reflects and upholds the core values of the counseling profession.
