Dr. Stanev specializes in early modern literature, with a focus on Renaissance drama, sensory studies, and the history of the body. His secondary research interests include modern and postmodern theater, animation studies, and speculative fiction, particularly fantasy writing and science fiction. He holds graduate degrees from The University of Chicago and Ohio State University, and his book, Sensory Experience and the Metropolis on the Jacobean Stage (1603-1625), was published by Routledge. He is currently working on a second monograph that examines the history of sport and theater during the early modern period.
