Dr. Malone is Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Dermatology and in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.  She graduated with honors from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.  She trained in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Louisville and was awarded the Golden Apple Pathology Teaching Award during 3 consecutive years of residency for possessing excellent teaching skills as determined by vote of the University’s second year medical students and pathology resident colleagues.  She went on to complete a dermatopathology fellowship at Indiana University Purdue University Indiana.

Dr. Malone has been instrumental in providing dermatopathology education to University of Louisville dermatology and pathology residents for the past 25 years.  She derives much satisfaction from the teaching component of her position and receives high marks when her teaching is evaluated by residents and students.  She has served as a mentor to medical students and residents in training. She has supported them in research endeavors by advising them and collaborating with them on case reports and studies.  Dermatopathology lectures given by Dr. Malone at local and national conferences have been highly rated. 

She has been an active participant in research during her tenure as faculty and has published nearly 60 articles in the peer-reviewed medical literature.  She has a special interest in Sweet Syndrome and has written several articles about the disease including a seminal article regarding the condition that is often referenced. 

Dr. Malone has significant experience in managing a histology laboratory and is well-versed in methods to assure laboratory quality, efficiency and accuracy.  She is the director of Associates in Dermatology Dermatopathology Lab and the Dermatopathology section of Laboratory Corporation of American (Louisville Division).  Dr. Malone also contributes to quality assurance of histology laboratories nationally by serving as a team leader participant in the College of American Pathologists Laboratory Accreditation Program.
