BIO

Jasmine L. Whiteside’s current research foci examine the educational aspirations, trajectories, and attainment of underrepresented student populations in the United States. I am particularly interested in the experiences and motivations of first-generation students. Joining a long tradition of social inequality, education, and critical race scholars seeking to maximize the retention of students from racially diverse and/or low-resourced backgrounds once they enroll in college, my work highlights an overlapping interest in racial/ethnic, spatial, and economic inequalities.
