TEACHING & MENTORING
Dr. Hellmann is a physiologist and biophysicist turned immunometabolism researcher who takes pride in guiding students in translating molecular insights into understanding chronic disease. Given his expertise, trainees can expect to learn concepts around lipid mediators, immune resolution pathways, inflammation, metabolism, and environmental influences on cardiometabolic health. His research aims to develop interventions (pharmacological or lifestyle) targeting inflammation resolution—not just suppression—which is crucial for preventing and managing chronic diseases tied to obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular risk.
