Jeeson Oh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urban and Public Affairs at the University of Louisville. Her research interests include Community and Economic Development; Philanthropy and Urban Governance; Science and Technology Studies (STS); Participatory Planning Processes; and Community Engaged Research.

Jeeson’s research centers on three critical questions:

(1) how increasingly direct foundation engagement in urban planning is impacting institutional change processes in cities;

(2) how expertise, ranging from financial to technological, is brought in by a particular group of stakeholders and informs decision-making in the public sphere; and

(3) how and under what conditions anchor-based economic development strategies can enhance economic mobility in marginalized urban communities.

Her work has been published in Journal of the American Planning Association and Journal of Urban Affairs.

She holds PhD in City and Regional Planniing (2023) from the Ohio State University (minor in Public Policy), a Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Architecture from the University of Minnesota.
