In 1992 Jeff graduated cum laude from Furman University with Bachelor degrees in Computer Science and Philosophy, he  completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science Engineering at the University of Louisville's Speed School of Engineering in 2008 and  joined the Department of Engineering Fundamentals Faculty.  Jeff has been using active learning strategies in the classroom, and collaborates with researchers in psychology and education to indentify and understand effective teaching strategies for undergraduate STEM classes.
