JEFFREY C. SUN

Jeffrey C. Sun, J.D., Ph.D., is a Distinguished University Professor of Higher Education and Law, the Gradie R. & Mary D. Rowntree Endowed Chair in Educational Administration & Policy, and Director of the SKILLS Collaborative at the University of Louisville. He also serves as Counsel at Manley Burke, bridging academic scholarship with active legal practice in higher education law and career education policy.

Advancing his inquiry and practice, Dr. Sun has secured more than $30 million in external funding as Project Director and Principal Investigator. His research portfolio includes approximately 100 scholarly works and 13 co-authored books, such as Law, policy, and higher education; Law and educational inequality; Student clashes on-campus: A leadership guide to free speech; and Academic leadership and governance of higher education.

Dr. Sun’s leadership background includes prior roles as Department Chair and Associate Dean of Research, Innovation, and Strategic Partnerships. He holds both a BBA and MBA from Loyola Marymount University, a J.D. from the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University, and both an M.Phil. and Ph.D. from Columbia University.
