Dr. Harpe-Bates serves as a Assistant Professor in the Nurse Anesthesia Program. Her focus is on Introduction to Nurse Anesthesia, Foundational Anesthesia courses and Advanced Principals courses. She is the Simulation Coordinator for the Nurse Anesthesia Program providing and leading all the associated simulation with the above courses. She remains clinically active administering anesthesia weekly . She was appointed by Governor Andy Beshear to the Kentucky Board of Nursing in 2023 for a four year term in the CRNA designated board seat. She is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (FAANA), and is involved in state and national committees in Nurse Anesthesiology. She is passionate about  reducing pain associated with surgery and anesthesia, by incorporating multi-modal medications and regional anesthesia.
