Dr. McGowan serves as an Associate Program Director for the University of Louisville School of Medicine’s Emergency Medicine residency program. A previous graduate of the ULSOM EM residency and former chief resident, her professional areas of interest include wilderness medicine and medical education. Having completed a Fellowship of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine and a Masters in Health Professions Education, she enjoys finding creative ways to combine her interests. She serves as the faculty advisor for the SOM’s wilderness medicine student interest group, orchestrating an Advanced Wilderness Life Support curriculum for medical students. Within the residency program, her roles include serving as the intern APD, overseeing the residency didactic curriculum, and as the course director for the medical student EM bootcamp, intern orientation month, and resident wilderness medicine rotations.
