Jennifer Thompson, M.D., is a pediatrician with Norton Children’s Medical Group--Novak Center. 

Dr. Thompson received her Bachelor of Science in Pre-Professional Studies and Spanish from the University of Notre Dame, medical degree from Rush Medical College, and completed her Pediatric Residency at Rush University Medical Center. She joined the University of Louisville faculty in 2013.  

Her leadership roles include Medical Director of the Kosair Charities Center for Pediatric NeuroRecovery Program and Associate Pediatric Clerkship Director for the University of Louisville School of Medicine.  She serves on the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Children with Disabilities (AAP COCWD) Educational Subcommittee and Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics (COMSEP) Assessment and Evaluation Collaborative as Co-Chair. 

Dr. Thompson’s clinical interests include preventive care (for infants and children) and multi-disciplinary care for children with spinal cord injury, and her research interests include pediatric spinal cord injury, children with special healthcare needs and medical education. Her advocacy efforts focus on children with spinal cord injury and special healthcare needs. 

Dr. Thompson earned a Graduate Certificate in Health Professions Education from the University of Louisville and enjoys teaching medical students and residents in the clinical outpatient setting.  She mentors medical students and residents and serves on the University of Louisville School of Medicine Student Education Committee and M3-M4 Subcommittee.
