Jonathan K. Joshi, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he serves as Vice Chair of Quality and Safety, Section Chief of Emergency Radiology, and Program Director of the Emergency Radiology Fellowship. His clinical practice centers on acute care and trauma imaging at a Level I trauma center, and most of his academic work grows directly out of that setting.

One of the focuses of his work is patient safety and quality improvement in radiology. He founded the department’s monthly Quality and Safety Conference and was a founding member of its Quality Improvement Committee, with quality efforts spanning the standardized management of contrast extravasation, image quality assessment, and emergency imaging workflow. He also serves as the site champion for AI implementation across University of Louisville Health, and a growing share of his recent research evaluates how AI-driven worklist prioritization affects turnaround times for time-sensitive findings such as free intraperitoneal air and cervical spine fractures.

Dr. Joshi is an active educator and research mentor. He has been recognized repeatedly as Educator of the Year and as Best Faculty Research Mentor within his department, and he has built a sustained pipeline of medical students and residents contributing to trauma registry research, particularly the imaging, management, and outcomes of gunshot wound and motor vehicle collision injuries. His scholarly record extends across emergency and trauma radiology, cardiac imaging, nuclear medicine, and the practical integration of artificial intelligence into clinical practice. He holds peer-review roles with several radiology journals and is board certified by the American Board of Radiology with Authorized User designation in nuclear medicine.
