SPONSORED PROJECTS

  • Cardiac Extracellular Matrix (ECM) Biology: Investigating how the ECM mediates communication between cardiac cells and regulates structural integrity and signaling in heart health and disease.
  • Fibroblast-Driven ECM Remodeling: Exploring how fibroblasts influence ECM composition and architecture in aging, ischemic and non-ischemic cardiomyopathies, and cardiac fibrosis.
  • ECM Composition, Mechanics, and Architecture: Characterizing non-fibrillar collagens, matricellular proteins, and spatial matrix organization using advanced imaging (e.g., second harmonic generation, electron microscopy) and biomechanical assays (atomic force microscopy, tensile testing).
  • Mechanobiology and Pathological Signaling: Integrating structural and functional data to map how ECM remodeling alters mechanotransduction and drives pathological signaling.
  • ECM-Targeted Therapeutics: Developing and testing ECM-focused interventions, such as cyclo‑RGD peptidomimetics, to disrupt aberrant fibroblast–matrix interactions and improve cardiac repair in preclinical models of myocardial infarction and pressure overload.
