BIO

Dr. Katherine Marin is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education within the Department of Elementary, Middle, and Secondary Teacher Education. Dr. Marin’s expertise encompasses the effective implementation of elementary mathematics curriculum and design of mathematics teacher education practices. Her research focuses on advancing mathematical knowledge for teaching and optimizing mathematics teacher education by attending to generational differences among educators. Dr. Marin actively collaborates with key state stakeholders to equip educators with the resources necessary to deliver high-quality mathematics instruction throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She is the coordinator of the Elementary Mathematics Specialist Program and teaches courses focused on effective mathematics teaching in elementary schools including Math Methods, Mathematical Reasoning K-12, Teaching Fractions in K-8, and Teaching Number and Algebraic Thinking in Elementary School.
