Keith Plymale is an architect, interior designer, and an assistant professor at the HITE Institute of Art + Design at the University of Louisville. He is a certified interior designer in Kentucky, and a licensed architect in Kentucky, California, and Florida.

Plymale’s education includes a Master’s degree in Building Design [Architecture] from Columbia University, G.S.A.P.P., and a five year Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kentucky. He has taught at the University of California Berkeley's College of Environmental Design from 2001-2024, and the University of Kentucky’s School of Architecture from 1990-2000.

Plymale’s approach to architecture is rooted in a career focus of building houses. His architectural work emerges from two formative working relationships, with José Oubrerie and Leonardo Ricci.

Throughout the 1990’s, Plymale worked with José Oubrerie, a renowned French architect who began his career as Le Corbusier’s assistant from 1958-1962. With Oubrerie, Plymale was project manager on Atelier Wylde-Oubrerie’s Miller House [Lexington], the Z-Houze [Columbus, OH], and a French Embassy proposal for Zimbabwe. He is currently the archivist of the Oubrerie architectural archive. Secondly, Plymale worked with Italian architect Leonardo Ricci, a post-WWII modernist who revolutionized the use of concrete in design. Plymale's work with Ricci was formative during his student years and includes a 1994 proposal for the Peggy Guggenheim Collection for the 1994 Architecture Biennale di Venezia.

Plymale is the founding architect of CPH3D, a 3D concrete printing, design-build company, headquartered in Tampa, Florida. Plymale and his team at CPH3D are working collaboratively to create low carbon, hurricane resilient houses which are safer solutions for the future. This innovative design work combines 3D printing technology, low carbon concrete recipes, and traditional methods of construction to help redefine the trajectory of residential architecture.
