Dr. Sokoloski is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the School of Medicine at the University of Louisvile. His lab studies the host / pathogen interface with specific attention on molecular interactions important to the evasion of the host innate immune system and inflammation during arthritogenic and encephalitic infections during BSL-2 and BSL-3 infections.

Dr. Sokoloski completed his graduate training in the lab of Dr. Jeffrey Wilusz at Colorado State University, where his work involved delineating the intersection of host RNA decay with positive-sense RNA viruses in mammals and insects. After concluding his PhD studies, he continued with postdoctoral training opportunities in the labs of Dr. Richard Hardy and Suchetana “Tuli” Mukhopadhyay at the University of Indiana- Bloomington. As a postdoctoral fellow his research areas included viral molecular biology of replication, host / pathogen interaction discovery in insect models of infection, and structural virology. In 2016 he was appointed as a faculty member in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Louisville, School of Medicine. In 2021 he received Tenure and was promoted to Associate Professor.
