Matthieu Dalle is the Director of Undergraduate Studies in French at the University of Louisville. He holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism from CELSA-Université de la Sorbonne and a PhD in French Civilization from The Pennsylvania State University. He was the Director of UofL’s French Graduate program between 2010 and 2019. He has taught courses at all levels of the French curriculum as well as in the UofL Honors program, and was the recipient of both the College of Arts & Sciences and the University-wide Distinguished Teaching Professor Awards in 2021-2022. His areas of scholarly expertise are late 20th century French cinema and 21st century French political and cultural history. He is also the Director of the UofL French Film Festival, an annual event he created in 2009, which brings to on and off-campus audiences quality French and francophone films introduced by invited speakers and complemented by post-screening discussions.
