I am a professor and previous department chair in the Department of Counseling and Human Development at the University of Louisville, and have been the Director of Training at two universities. My doctoral degree is in counseling psychology from the University of Oklahoma and I completed an internship at the University of Utah. I worked for two years in Newfoundland, Canada prior to accepting an academic position at the University of Southern Mississippi, where I worked for 17 years. During this time, I was a Visiting Scholar in South Africa.  Most of my research interests over the past few years have focused on professional ethics and moral issues, though I also engage in research in the areas of forgiveness as well as the integration of religion and spirituality on psychological variables. I have engaged in work for the American Psychological Association and the International Association of Applied Psychology in various capacities, including currently being Vice-Chair of the Task Force developing the next version of the APA ethics code. In addition to teaching and research I worked with clients in different capacities over many years, been an expert witness, and have been a consultant, reviewer, instructor, and visiting scholar in different countries.
