Margath Walker is Professor of Geography in the Department of Geographic and Environmental Sciences and School of Urban and Public Affairs at the University of Louisville. She is a social and political geographer whose research focuses on borders, technology, and critical social theory.  Her book, Spatializing Marcuse: Critical Theory for Contemporary Times (Bristol University Press), is the first to develop a geographic perspective in relation to the social philosopher, Herbert Marcuse. She has published widely on borders and belonging in the context of Latin America, the spatial dimensions of emerging technologies and how social theory can explain current political dynamics. Her current funded project investigates the geographies of border and immigration enforcement under Operation Lone Star in Texas. She has been consulted as expert witness and by media outlets. Professor Walker is currently co-editor of the RGS-IBG Book Series at LSE Press.
