As a faculty in the Department of Bioengineering, Speed School of Engineering, University of Louisville, my research interests are currently focused upon the development and translation of medical technologies ranging from advanced ocular biomaterials for protection of the lens from oxidative damage, drug delivery systems for long term intraocular delivery, and gold nanoparticles for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes (with an emphasis on cancer diagnosis and therapy). I have received several grants aimed at rapid development and commercialization of these technologies that have resulted in formation of three different start-up companies. I currently teach Bioengineering classes related to molecular and nano-scale Bioengineering. I serve as director of the Certificate, Master's, and PhD (Fall 2026) Artificial Intelligence in Medicine graduate programs.
